The shape of this piece is based on a vintage shield fobs that were worn by Victorians. The meaning of the symbols on the shield is inspired by Sailor Jerry tattoos.
The top of the shield is crowned by a swallow with open wings about to take flight - swallows were used by sailors to symbolise their experience. It is often used to represent overcoming of adversity in some ways.
The middle of the shield has a traditional nautical star representative of Polaris (historically used by sailors use for navigation) the star tattoos were considered to help guide sailors on course and are therefore considered to be symbols of guidance.
The pendant measures 2cm in width and 3cm in height. It is handmade from sterling silver in the UK.
